Rome

Rome is a city for romantics. If romance does not interest you, the history surrounding the city will leave you breathless.  Rome is a city of contradictions: traffic jams and ancient buildings, freedom of expression through art and stoic religion. Whatever your reasons for visiting Rome, you will surely fall in love with the city.

For the music lover, Rome offers multiple selections to bombard your auditory senses. Some of the venues date back as far as the 16th century. Take in an opera or relax in one of the several jazz clubs. If theater is more your style, there are theaters offering live shows or movies showing international films with subtitles.

Rome is considered the founder of Western civilization. While it is no longer the epicenter of the world as it once was, it is a key player in the fashion industry. Take advantage of the cutting-edge fashions and go shopping! Rome is full of places to go shopping and purchase anything from designer shoes to touristy magnets. Find the in-between and purchase knock-off shoes that look designer. Your friends back home will never know!

No trip to Rome would be complete without visiting the Colosseum. Dating back to AD72, many a gladiator faced off against one another or prisoner met their end by means of a hungry lion. The Colosseum’s rich history is destined to excite the imagination of any traveler. If the Colosseum seems a bit gruesome for your taste, visit the Imperial Forums. Construction began in 42 BC and continued for over 100 years. Over time the ruins were buried and are currently being excavated.  The incredible stories behind the historic site make it worth the visit.

The food alone would make a trip to Rome worth the trouble. Real Italian food is world-renowned.  Try authentic pasta and pizza, or take in a summer’s day sitting outside with a cup of gelato.  Of course, don’t forget to try the wine.
