The Top Anchorage Bars For A Great Night Out In Alaska

Alaska is known for its cold winter nights. The best way to spend a wintry night is to go out with friends for drinks at the most happening Anchorage bars. You can have a blast and keep warm at the same time. What could be better than that?

Depending on what kind of fun you have in mind, there are a lot of Anchorage bars to choose from. Believe me there are a lot so to make it easier for you, I have narrowed down the list to include only the best Anchorage bars.

Anchorage bars offer both locals and tourists a lot of variety. So to make the list of the best Anchorage bars, they have been divided according to type. There are bars for the entire family, resto-bars, and sports bars among others. The best Anchorage bars are not ranked but just listed down for you to get an idea of what each bar has to offer.

First on the list is Koot's, originally Chilkoot's but has long been known as Koot's to the locals. It is a big mansion with several bars located inside.  It is not just bars; there are piano bars, live entertainment and almost anything you can think of. It first opened in 1970 and has been a part of the history of the city of Anchorage. It strives to give its clientele a unique taste of the nightlife in Anchorage. There is the 1940's themed bar called the Swing Bar. It is complete with black and white television. Another unique bar at Koot's is the Bird House where the walls are decorated with autographed underwear. Among the Anchorage bars, Koot's is perhaps the most unique of the lot. Aside from the great drinks, Koot's also is a good place to get a sumptuous meal courtesy of Sal's New York Grill. With its endless expansion and reinvention, it will remain as one of the best Anchorage bars.

Also included in the best of Anchorage bars is the Platinum Jaxx. It is a night club, sports bar and restaurant all rolled into one. During the weekdays it is a restaurant for a quiet meal with friends or family but on weekends it is transformed into a night club for partying the night away. The weekend parties are also broadcasted live on air via a local radio station.

Next on the list of Anchorage bars is a bar called Peanut Farm. It got its interesting name because of the peanut shells incorporated into its flooring. Among the three Anchorage bars I have mentioned, the Peanut Farm is the oldest. It has been around since 1958 and is still open to this day. Through the years it has grown in size and has made room for a lot of improvements. At present it has a floor area of 200,000 feet with an extremely long bar, 80 feet to be exact. There are also more than 70 flat screens and projection screens scattered all throughout the Peanut Farm.

These are only a few of the best in Anchorage bars, there are more out there for you to explore. Anchorage bars know how to give a good time and you will certainly come back for more. But always remember to know your limits and be responsible enough not to get behind the wheel when you know you have had too many drinks.
